$59,422 raised for the Lamèque Hospital and Community Centre

Lamèque, February 25, 2022 – Once again this year, the community showed its generosity and allowed the Lamèque Hospital Foundation to raise $59,422 in its 2021 Annual Campaign, with a goal of $50,000. This amount is part of the Lamèque Hospital Foundation’s $300,000 commitment to the expansion of the UMF.

A project that will have a significant impact on patients and front-line professionals

Specifically, the expansion of the UMF will allow:

  • Better access to primary health care for the region’s population;
  • Decrease visits to the Lamèque Hospital and CHC walk-in clinic and other emergency services on the Acadian Peninsula due to the increase in the number of patients seen at the FMU;
  • To improve the comfort of patients, staff and greater confidentiality;
  • Strengthen the primary health care mandate of the Lamèque Hospital and CHC.

“It is with pride that we see the result of a common effort by volunteers and the community to better meet the needs of the health care facility. Today’s result confirms once again that people here are united and want to participate in the improvement of care for the region and today we say a heartfelt thank you! All donations made to the Foundation are invested entirely at home, for you! In addition, the President of the Lamèque Hospital Foundation, Mrs. Norma Aubut, added, “We have always worked in partnership with the Lamèque Hospital and Community Health Centre to identify its needs and to ensure that people have access to care and services close to home. This year, we are proud to partner with the Vitalité Health Network to invest $1 million in the expansion of the Family Medicine Unit (FMU). Access to quality care at home is an important cause for the Foundation.”
