More than $155,000 for the fight against cancer

Bathurst, Thursday, April 30, 2020: At a time when the whole world is being put on hold due to the pandemic, the population of Acadie-Bathurst has mobilized to continue the fight against cancer by allowing the Rose Radiothon to post a surprising figure of more than $155,000, 87% of the $178,000 objective.

Fundraising events were held throughout the past year, but several have had to be cancelled in recent months due to the COVID-19 related pandemic. The Rose Radiothon day regroupings scheduled for Friday, April 24th were no exception.

The 4 presidents of the Roses Radiothon wanted to deliver their message of solidarity to the people who continue their battle against cancer on the occasion of this 14th edition of the Roses Radiothon. “We simply wanted to give the opportunity to those who could and wanted to make a donation to be able to do so in order to support the people of our region in their fight against cancer, which continues despite the pandemic. “It is with this in mind that the Foundations have continued to accept donations through their website and by phone without any further active solicitation in order to respect those who are currently being affected by the impact of COVID-19. The Foundations continue to accept donations for those who would still like to participate.

Again this year, the population has been very generous. The Acadie-Bathurst Foundations are impressed by the continued generosity of the people. “Every contribution we receive lets us know that the Foundations are supported in our mission to help our hospitals to provide the best health care to the population. The surpluses that have been raised through previous radiothons will allow us to cover the difference in costs and meet our commitments to purchase equipment for our hospitals.”

The Rose Radiothon also took the opportunity to thank all of its many volunteers who contributed to the Radiothon during the year, as well as the support received from donors and our major partners CKLE, CKRO, Max 104.9 and L’ Acadie Nouvelle.
