Lamèque, February 10th 2022 – La Fondation de l’Hôpital de Lamèque announced today that they are raising their fundraising goal as they have exceeded all expectations by raising a total of $338,821, which is $38,821 more than their goal.
The Foundation had launched its fundraising campaign, with a goal of raising $300,000, in the fall of 2021. The expansion of the Family Medicine Unit will improve patient and staff comfort and access to primary health care for the community.
Today, the Lamèque Hospital Foundation announced new major partners in its fundraising campaign, setting a new tone for the campaign: UNI Coopération financière ($50,000), l’Association Coopérative des pêcheurs de l’Ile ltée ($10,000), Gauthier Marine ($10,000), Tim Hortons of Shippagan ($10,000) and l’Indépendant of Shippagan ($10,000). “Today’s pledges total $90,000, giving us a total of $338,821 to date, which is 113% of our overall goal of $300,000. Our goal has been more than met and the new Family Medicine Unit layout will soon become a reality! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all our generous donors!” declared Dre Dawn Marie Martin-Ward, physician at the Family Medicine Unit of the Lamèque Hospital and Community Health Center (CHC).
The President of the Board of Directors of the Lamèque Hospital Foundation, Mrs. Norma Aubut, continued in the same vein. “With the momentum we are seeing in the community and the needs that still need to be met, I am pleased to announce that we have been asked to continue the campaign and we have all accepted! Your great generosity allows us to go even further. I am extremely proud to announce that an additional $65,000 will be dedicated to enhance the Frontline Staff Development Bursary Fund. This brings our revised fundraising goal to $365,000. Based on today’s announcements, we are 93% of the way to our new goal of $365,000, which means we have raised $338,821 so far.” Vitalité Health Network is very proud of its partnership with the Lamèque Hospital Foundation. “The improved services provided at the Lamèque Hospital & CHC are in line with our strategy to ensure the development of optimal access to resources and care throughout the Network’s territory, particularly in rural areas. This will benefit people throughout the community, in a health care facility close to home. The Network is most grateful for the generosity and commitment of the population.” said Ms. Shelley Robichaud, representative of the establishment.
Impacts on services offered
The $65,000 added to the fundraising goal will be used to meet a need for front-line staff development. Staff development is very important to ensure that they can provide quality health care and services close to home. Health care is continually developing, and we want to ensure that our professionals have access to the best practices in their respective fields. Equipment is important, but the human resource is indispensable.
