LAMÈQUE – La Fondation de l’Hôpital de Lamèque Inc. held its annual general meeting for the 2020-2021 fiscal year on December 9, 2021. The Chair of the Board of Directors, Ms. Norma Aubut, took the opportunity to present a positive report on the activities of the past year.
Whether through personal, association or corporate donations or the organization of an activity, such as the Northern Star, the Roses Radiothon or our largest campaign, which focused on the renovation of the Family Medicine Unit, the people of the region made it clear how important the Lamèque Hospital and CHC is to them through their participation.
Here is a summary of how we allocated funds this past year to once again improve health care and services for people:
• $43,027 – Patient care and diagnostic, treatment and follow-up services (76%);
• $13,163 – Specialized regional services and services in the fight against cancer (23%);
• $550 – Development and training (1%).
“The success of our campaigns is the result of the great generosity of the community and the commitment of our volunteers. Thank you to everyone for your important support of our region’s people. The challenges are great and the needs are even greater. This is what motivates us to continue one and all,” said Ms. Aubut, Chair of the Board of Directors.
The foundation also used the meeting to explain that now is the right time to re-evaluate our priorities and strengthen our fundraising strategies. In this respect, the Foundation is working on the implementation of a solid strategic plan that will guide it until 2027.
The elected members of the foundation’s board of directors are Norma Aubut (Chair), Denis Savoie (Vice‑Chair), Sylvie Lanteigne (Treasurer), Shelley Robichaud (Secretary), Linda Austin, Raymonde Chiasson, Gilles Chiasson, Dr. Dawn Marie Martin‑Ward and Irène Savoie.
