This amount is part of the Lam\u00e8que Hospital Foundation&#8217;s $300,000 commitment to the expansion of the UMF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A\nproject that will have a significant impact on patients and front-line\nprofessionals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifically, the expansion of the UMF will allow:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Better access to primary health care for the region&#8217;s population;<\/li><li>Decrease visits to the Lam\u00e8que Hospital and CHC walk-in clinic and other\nemergency services on the Acadian Peninsula due to the increase in the number\nof patients seen at the FMU;<\/li><li>To improve the comfort of patients, staff and greater confidentiality;<\/li><li>Strengthen the primary health care mandate of the Lam\u00e8que Hospital and\nCHC.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It is with pride that we see the result of a common effort by\nvolunteers and the community to better meet the needs of the health care\nfacility. Today&#8217;s result confirms once again that people here are united and\nwant to participate in the improvement of care for the region and today we say\na heartfelt thank you! All donations made to the Foundation are invested\nentirely at home, for you! In addition, the President of the Lam\u00e8que Hospital\nFoundation, Mrs. Norma Aubut, added, &#8220;We have always worked in partnership\nwith the Lam\u00e8que Hospital and Community Health Centre to identify its needs and\nto ensure that people have access to care and services close to home. This\nyear, we are proud to partner with the Vitalit\u00e9 Health Network to invest $1\nmillion in the expansion of the Family Medicine Unit (FMU).
